Back to Basics
In an era of completely mechanical machines for basic daily tasks, such ashand dryers, hair dryers, automatic flushing toilets, dishwashers, and moving sidewalks, it can be hard to focus on the basics in life. Since my move to Parrot Cay I am even more aware of this, as we make do with basics in the Caribbean. It keeps me more grounded and closer to the energy of the universe to use less. It's been a great lesson!

Fun and Games
As a parent and now a grandparent I wish that I had taken some days when my stepson was younger and put down the Playstation and xbox 360 to spend more quality time together. Unfortunately when he was younger I had not yet gotten to where I am now in terms of my understanding of the universe and myself, and placed more value on things many times than on people.

Global Community for Integrative Medicine
My friend Pamela Miles (recently seen on Dr. Oz) specializes in Reiki as part of Integrative Medicine, and to this end works very closely with physicians and hospitals to help everyone understand Reiki and how well it can fit into the integrative health model.
The Global Community for Integrative Medicine has designed a team approach to healing as one integrative body of healers made up of doctors, nurses, therapists, nutritionists, energy facilitators, hypnotherapist, and other complimentary care facilitators. They have created a model of "Team Healing" which allows the patient to have one hour of healing from 4-6 different modalities for quick, deep treatment. They have come together in their community to step out of the isolation of their practices, and share what they do in a collaborative fashion while dispelling myths around their work.
They are holding their first annual global integrative healing conference, in beautiful Tuscany, where they will share each country’s interdisciplinary healing models and concerns about integrative medicine in their communities.
During this time of crisis around the world economically, they have decided to take hands with other countries globally to help support each other as they step forward, healing one country at a time as they base the conference in a different country each year.

Running a Reiki Practice - Accepting Payments
Once you start either giving reiki treatments or teaching reiki, whether on line for distance healing or attunements or live, you need some form of system for accepting payments. If you are just starting, have a small practice, and want fewer worries you should start by accepting cash. Be clear with clients before the treatment that cash is the payment method, and keep careful records of the cash income for tax purposes.
If your business expands you can looks at various POS systems (point of sale), including check verification systems and credit card systems. Paypal is one way of working with this, but there are many other decent systems out there.

Collecting Stuff
In our previous life in the US hubby and I collected massive amounts of stuff. Really - a library full of floor to ceiling full bookshelves; a basement full of tools, benches, exercise equipment, and assorted storage; and lots of memorabilia, including old tiles, photos, etc. So when we decided to move to the Caribbean, and then to even smaller digs on Parrot Cay, we started unloading things. What a relief! Everything we own in this world is in our small staff room and that is all of it - so nice.

Uses for Reiki
Something that many people are not clear about regarding Reiki is that at heart Reiki is a daily self-practice that keeps is grounded and in tune with the Universe. Only when we as practitioners are healthy and grounded can we really be useful to our clients. I have actually crosses paths with people attuned through Reiki II who never really practice on people at all, only themselves and their life situations.
In my opinion the primary use of Reiki is for maintenance of self. Then for sending to others. One can also use Reiki energy to clear and heal animals, homes, the planet, and anything else you can think of.

A Gift of Health
Reiki sessions, attunements, and distance healing can make great and unique gifts for her, for him, and even for your pets. Reiki will help anyone feel better, sleep better, have less pain, and heal faster. Reiki is non-invasive and works alongside standard medical treatment. Go ahead, give someone a gift that will last and be appreciated. Give the gift of Reiki.
