Selling Reiki

OK, I have something to admit. I have a very hard time “selling” reiki to people who do not already know what it is or have experienced the work. This bothers me because I know for a fact that Reiki works, minimally as a good way to relax and relieve stress, and in many cases as a great way to help relieve pain, headaches, and insomnia.

Unlike office products, which have clearly defined functions and are necessary to certain functions, Reiki is a bit more fluid. I would like to say Reiki is necessary, but in reality it is a highly recommended optional addition. I actually have an easier time selling Reiki classes with attunements to equip people for further self-care as well as care of others than selling Reiki treatments, even though I feel ten times better when I receive regular Reiki treatments from other practitioners.

In many ways this is the same quandary of the Pilates teacher, who wants her clients to progress, learn, and internalize the practice; while at the same time wanting them to remain devoted students forever. The Reiki I attunement and class gives each person the tools for effective daily self Reiki practice as well as a medium to treat others. Regular Reiki treatments allow for the pain and stress relief, along with support of any other medical treatments and positive mood changes, but without a solid self practice to back it up the client must rely on a Reiki practitioner, even though the tool is easy to teach and learn.

What are your challenges in selling Reiki treatments vs. classes? What works? What doesn’t? Leave me some comments…

Comfortable Sleep

I have been raving about my mattress and bedding ever since we moved into our new apartment in September. While I tend to like more rustic bedding with darker less finished woods, we went a bit more modern urban in our brand spanking new apartment and building. Our bedroom is a nest. A big comfortable…

Remember to Breathe While Shopping

If you are anything like me, the holiday season is simply tough on multiple levels. Over the past 4 years hubby and I worked like crazy every “Festive Season” at Parrot Cay. Always at 100% occupancy with lots going on. Basically, there was no time to shop or party. Now I am in New York…

Symptoms of Inner Peace

Nobody knows who wrote this and it shows up all over, but is still worth a read. I copied this from Jehara’s post about Reiki II…   Now I know who wrote this 25 years ago! Saskia Davis, who has just published an Inner Peace Wall Poster of this famous tract.   I…

Reiki Games and Videos

There are some fabulous reiki-inspired games and videos that would be wonderful to watch on a large screen plasma toshiba regza 32rv635db TV. Deepak Chopra recently designed a game called Leela that helps with focus, concentration, meditation, and healing and looks awesome on a bigger screen! We know visuals like mandalas can help our brains…

Learning Reiki by DVD

What is the best way to learn Reiki? If you live in an area with some good Reiki masters who offer live group classes, I recommend that you learn that way. You will see the hand positions, be able to ask questions, and see how other people work. If you do not know of a…

Holiday Gifts

OK, confession time. I really don’t like the holidays. There, I said it! Now, don’t get me wrong. I love parties, dinners, and presents as much as anyone else. But I like to choose to celebrate instead of being told when I need to shop and give or get gifts. All the stores in New…

Too Busy for Reiki?

The biggest issue I hear from my Reiki I students is finding the time and space to commit to a daily self practice. While receiving a reiki treatment from someone else is wonderful, and we certainly do get reiki as we give reiki, the daily self practice offers a time and space for you to…

Reiki Health Insurance

I have put so much stress and energy into deciding on a health insurance program for hubby and I that it made me realize how much I currently rely on my own natural practices, like pilates and reiki. In the same way that you buy motorhome insurance for accidents or emergencies, but rely on basic…

Holiday Madness

One nice thing about working at Parrot Cay was that we could really bypass the whole holiday madness. The hotel would get crazy busy and work became more regimented, so we never really had a Festive time as staff and hubby and I enjoyed that. Now we are back in the realm of trees, lights,…
